What is a personal vaporizor or, E-cigarette
- exactly?
Excellent question. Let's start at the beginning with a little
history.
The electronic cigarette was first developed with a registered
patent, in April 2003 by SBT Co. Ltd., in Beijing. In 2004, Ruyan
took over the project to further develop the emerging technology and
absorbed SBT. Their name was changed to SBT RUYAN Technology &
Development Co., Ltd. In May 2004, Ruyan sold the first electronic
cigarette in China. In its first 3 years of production, SBT RUYAN
saw steady increases in sales, from $1.7 million USD in 2004 to $17
million USD in 2005, and $37 million USD in 2006.
In April 2006, the electronic cigarette was released in Europe,
making its debut in Austria. After its introduction, the product was
adapted to the European market and marketed in UK. In 2007, Reuters
visited SBT RUYAN in Beijing, which drew media attention to the
technology. Since that time, the expansion of the product and the
various devices supporting personal vaporizing has been rapid and
widespread.
The device it self is battery-powered and provides inhaled doses of
nicotine by way of a vaporized solution. It is an alternative to
smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. In
addition to nicotine delivery, this vapor also provides a flavor and
physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, while
no tobacco, smoke, or combustion is actually involved in its
operation.
PVs or electronic cigarettes usually take the form of some manner of
elongated tube, though many are designed to resemble the outward
appearance of real smoking products, like cigarettes, cigars, and
pipes. Most electronic cigarettes are reusable devices with
replaceable and refillable parts. A number of disposable and
re-usable electronic cigarettes have been developed with
improvements and variations focusing on different aspects of the
experience along the way.
Our cartridges contain some or all of the following.
Nicotine - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine - there's a lot of
information on this well known substance here.
Propylene glycol - is an organic compound (a diol or double
alcohol). It is a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid
with a faintly sweet taste, hygroscopic (attracts and absorbs water
molecules) and miscible (mixed in ratio) with water.
Vegetable glycerin - is an organic compound. It is a colorless,
odorless, viscous liquid that is widely used in pharmaceutical
formulations. Glycerol has three hydrophilic hydroxyl groups that
are responsible for its solubility in water and its hygroscopic
nature. The glycerol substructure is a central component of many
lipids. Glycerol is sweet-tasting and of low toxicity.
Ethyl maltol - is an organic compound that is common as a flavourant
in some confectionaries. It is related to the more common flavorant
maltol by replacement of the methyl group by an ethyl group. It is a
white solid with a sweet smell that can be described as caramalized
sugar and cooked fruit
Acetylpyrazine - is used in the creation and/or manufacturing of
flavor and fragrance agents and found in various foods such as beef,
coffee and popcorn.
Guaiacol - is a naturally occurring organic compound. This
colourless aromatic oil is derived from guaiacum or wood creosote.
Samples darken upon exposure to air and light. Guaiacol is present
in wood smoke, resulting from the pyrolysis of lignin. The compound
contributes to the flavor of many compounds, e.g. roasted coffee.
Natural and artificial flavoring and coloring.
